With graduation time right around the corner, it’s no surprise that seniors are *last minute* getting senior pictures done. In case you’re a senior (or if you know one), and you’re prepping for your upcoming senior photo session, we have some handy tips that’ll help you make the best of your photo shoot. Thanks to lifestyle and fashion photographer Tara Rose Weston (her work has been published in Vogue Italia before!), here’s how to make sure the senior photos your relatives will hang in their living rooms forever will look amazing:

TIP 1 – PREPARATION IS THE KEY

As far as preparation, it depends on if you’re going for a natural look or a certain theme. Definitely get good sleep and drink lots of water so you look and feel your best, it makes my job easier if retouching is minimal.

TIP 2 – INCORPORATE YOUR PASSIONS INTO YOUR SHOOT

From a photographers standpoint, I love being able to collaborate with people who are creative. Incorporate your culture, like your regalia, or something that you’re passionate about, maybe if you ride horse or motorcycles or have access to classic cars.

TIP 3 – HAVE FUN!

What I tell clients is that this your time to shine, senior portraits are how you commemorate your senior year/high school career! These photos will hang in your loved one’s homes forever, make it fun and something you’ll be proud to look at for years to come.

TIP 4 – DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP

It can be awkward if it’s your first time in front of the camera, so bring someone along that will help you with feeling confident and also make you laugh. Don’t be afraid to ask for help posing and to also take direction, or to suggest something specific! One thing I do during a photo shoot before changing locations or outfits is to ask if the client has any particular ideas in mind so they know that they have creative control, as well.
