REBECCA TAYLOR LAUNCHED ‘CAPSULE NAVAJO COLLECTION’, LATER CHANGES NAME

It looks like women’s clothing brand Rebecca Taylor missed the memo.

Popular women’s lifestyle website Racked published an article about how they received a press release promoting the new launch of Rebecca Taylor’s Pre-Spring Navajo collection.

According to Racked, a PR rep for the brand sent an email in hopes of being featured:

I wanted to be in touch as Rebecca created a capsule Navajo Collection for Pre-Spring and wanted to see if you were interested in possibly featuring.  It looks really cute. Lookbook attached for you here. Rebecca was inspired by Artist Simon Beck’s snow art for this collection. Let me know your thoughts when you have a quick second.

Racked then immediately inquired if Taylor collaborated with any Navajo artisans, in which the rep did not respond.
Although the brand pulled the term “Navajo” from the website, items can still be found by searching “Rebecca Taylor Navajo”. The site now calls the new collection just “New Collection”.

RACKED.COM FEATURES NATIVE AMERICAN FASHION DESIGNERS, TRAILBLAZERS IN LONG FEATURE

Racked also published long-form feature ‘The Reclaiming of Native American Fashion’, on Thursday, January 21. The article focused on how Native American artisans and writers are forging their own paths into the mainstream fashion world and featured Adrienne Keene/Native Appropriations, Jessica Metcalf/Beyond Buckskin, Kristen Dorsey/KDD and Jamie Okuma, among many others. Native Max Magazine founder and editor-in-chief Kelly Holmes was also included in the story.
