Denim Daydream captures Glasses’ love for rodeo culture, its heritage, and its connection to the Navajo way of life. This is reflected across a scape of denim and indigo hues—a nod to the signature attire of Navajo rodeo contestants and the color of Dinétah (Navajo Nation) skies.
When designing this collection, Naiomi drew inspiration from her family’s participation in rodeo, her “first love.” For the Glasses family, rodeo is a way of life. It sparked Naiomi’s interest in weaving, as she and her brother, Tyler Glasses Jr., initially pursued the craft to create their own saddle blankets.
This assortment includes 27 men’s, women’s, and unisex apparel and accessories featuring traditional Navajo elements like four-directional crosses and wedge weave motifs. Standout pieces include a beautiful indigo-hued jacket inspired by Rodeo trophy jackets, a down vest with throughout suede yokes based on the typical dress of the men in Naiomi’s family, and a beautiful silk western shirt with contrast piping, pearlized snaps, and a concho button – a thoughtful nod to Naiomi’s family ranching heritage. Many pieces in the collection are crafted with a beautiful and rugged throughout suede – a nostalgic fabrication for Glasses, who grew up with a saddle with roughout suede trim.
The Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses collection seeks to celebrate and honor Navajo tradition, craft, and culture. Each drop reflects the progression of Glasses’ weaving journey as she refined her craft skills and revealed a piece of her story and identity, which has long served as an inspiration for her weavings.
Drop one, Love of the Land, launched in December 2023.
Drop two, Color in Motion, launched in March 2024.
Drop three, Denim Daydream presents the collaboration in a refreshed approach. Shooting on the Glasses’ family lands in Navajo Nation and in studio, Naiomi’s ranching roots blend with her fashion ambitions, inviting all to celebrate Navajo culture.
As she did with drops one and two, Glasses, an avid turquoise and silver collector, curated a unique selection of handcrafted silver and turquoise jewelry from several artisan families throughout Navajo Nation, Hopi Pueblo, San Felipe Pueblo, and Zuni Pueblo — showcased throughout the campaign and available for purchase online and in select stores.
As part of this collaboration, a percentage of the purchase price from sales of drop two of the collection will benefit Creative Futures Collective, an organization working to unearth and empower the next generation of creative leaders from disenfranchised and underrepresented communities. Bringing the collaboration full circle, Creative Futures Collective was the organization that originally introduced Glasses to the Ralph Lauren team.
Aligned with its commitment to expand its portrayal of America, Ralph Lauren has been on a journey to shift from inspiration to collaboration with communities that have historically inspired its designs. Intentionally focused on the celebration and preservation of heritage craft, the Artist in Residence program is one way the Company is building a model of collaboration with the artisans that sustain heritage traditions.
The third capsule is available for purchase on RalphLauren.com, the Ralph Lauren App, and Tmall in select Ralph Lauren stores and via key wholesale partners while quantities last.
