Crushing Colonialism, an Indigenous-led 2SLGBTQIA+ arts and media organization, and Native Max, the trailblazing Indigenous fashion magazine, are proud to announce a collaborative campaign for Indigenous New York Fashion Week (INYFW 2025), taking place September 11–15, 2025. This partnership will highlight Indigenous designers, amplify authentic storytelling, and celebrate the intersection of fashion, identity, and storytelling.
As Indigenous fashion continues to expand into global spaces, this campaign aims to center the voices of Indigenous creators, connecting their artistry with the living traditions of storytelling rooted in Nations across Turtle Island and beyond.
The Crushing Colonialism x Native Max campaign will feature:
➔ In-person coverage: Real-time reporting from INYFW, including the Creators Brunch launch event.
➔ Designer testimonials: Personal reflections on the role of fashion in Indigenous storytelling, published across both outlets.
➔ Social media storytelling: Reels, stories, and co-branded posts amplifying designers and their voices.
➔ Editorial features: A collaborative webseries with photo essays and designer spotlights co-published by Native Max and Crushing Colonialism.
➔ Visual collaboration: Photographic coverage of INYFW moments, including runway shows and backstage storytelling.
➔ Critical reflection: An essay on Indigenous Fashion written by Crushing Colonialism, to be published in the December 2025 issue of The Magazine, themed “Changemakers.”
“We are incredibly excited for Indigenous New York Fashion Week. We’ve been collecting testimonials and connecting with the designers, and there are so many precious stories to be told. We can’t wait to share them with the public and celebrate Indigenous storytelling through fashion,” said Fabiana Gibim, Director of Development and Communications at Crushing Colonialism. “This collaboration with Native Max ensures that these stories are shared powerfully and authentically.”
“It’s about showing that Native stories are not confined to museums or pages in a history book; they’re alive, evolving, and unapologetically present,” shared Courtney Little Axe (ALTRN8V), one of the designers participating in INYFW 2025.
The collaboration will culminate in a co-branded media campaign across social media, web, and print during and after Indigenous New York Fashion Week 2025.
