Seattle based Eighth Generation teamed up with renowned fashion artist Jamie Okuma to create the new “Ribbons” Wool Blanket design. Jamie Okuma’s (Luiseño and Shoshone-Bannock) beadwork, mixed media soft sculpture, and fashion design work have been showcased worldwide – and even featured in Vogue. The new “Ribbons” design is based on the artist’s own bold, striking ribbon work.
In addition to the wool blanket, Eighth Generation previously released two items designed in collaboration with Jamie – the Ribbons Crew Socks and the Ribbons Beach Towel. The design features the artist’s favorite colors to bead with and showcases the bold designs that are characteristic of the Plateau/Great Basin/Plains region art style that instantly catches the eye.
Eighth Generation revitalized the wool blanket market by becoming the first Native-owned company to offer wool blankets in 2015. Now owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe, the company is set to drastically expand distribution, visibility, and market penetration for all of its 100% Native designed products.
