Congratulations to the new Miss North Dakota USA 2022 SaNoah LaRocque!
Hailing from the Turtle Mountain Chippewa of North Dakota, SaNoah was crowned earlier today in a state competition and was one of 26 women who participated in the statewide pageant.
The contestants, who come from across the state, competed in three, equally-scored categories: Interview, Evening Gown, and Swimwear.
“Three years ago, I vowed to bring this crown home to the Turtle Mountains. Today, it finally happened!” SaNoah said in a social media post. “I would not be the person I am— would not have the experiences or success I’ve had— were it not for my tribal identity. This crown is for the People.”
SaNoah says she plans to set an example for disadvantaged youth during her reign. “There is no limit to what can be accomplished.”
The Miss North Dakota USA competition preludes to the nationally televised Miss USA pageant, and from there the winner of Miss USA will advance to the international broadcasted competition Miss Universe 2022.
